There are some really fantastic happenings in and around the district this week. Be sure to check them out!

At Lyric Theatre this Thursday! City Arts Center  is pleased to present a FREE contemporary art lecture with internationally renowned artist Spencer Finch at 11:30 on November 10 at the Lyric Theatre.

Finch built his reputation using a variety of media including watercolor, pastel, photography, glass tile, video, sculpture and light installation as well as unexpected materials like Tang or invisible ink.  He attempts to capture the most elusive of subjects like wind or candlelight in his work.

Finch is best known for dealing with the indescribable concepts of memory and perception through light installations.  He uses a colorimeter, a device that reads the average color and temperature of light, to artificially construct natural places. By blending the reasoning of a scientist with the sensibilities of a poet, Finch’s work strives to depict the most intangible subjects including memory, scent, perception and light.
