Plaza District 2016

The Plaza District Association officially came into being in 1997. Back then, it was a passionate group of residents and visionaries who saw the need and the possibilities of a run down strip of commercial buildings. And  run down is probably an understatement.

In 1997, I was in the 7th grade. In 1997, most of the Plaza District business owners were in junior high or high school. It’s pretty amazing to see what our “generation” has accomplished here because of the foundation that was laid by a generation of Plaza District visionaries before us.

On Monday, our group of stakeholders will begin our 5 Year Strategic plan. We are excited to look forward to the next 5 years, and how we can shape the progress of the district. While our stakeholders will be there, our audience and supporters are the biggest part of the picture. So that’s where you come in! Please comment here (or email kristen@plazadistrict.org) your ideas, concerns, suggestions on things you would love to see happen in the next 5 years for the district. What things would you like to continue? Don’t know where to start? Here are some ideas/examples:

Business Recruitment (restaurant, retail, service)

Events (music, farmers market, family events, art events)

Street Additions (public art, seating, bike racks, wayfinding signage)

Safety (lighting, security, etc)

Parking

We really appreciate your support and input. The district is for OKC and we want to work to make it an area OKC can truly be proud of. We are already looking forward to 2016
