Last Saturday was America Unchained Day and everyone was being encouraged to put money back into their own Oklahoma City economy and shop locally. If you happen to be in the midtown area you can still shop local even though its not the official day! i have a list of local businesses that you might want to check out.
PLAZA DISTRICT
Collected Thread: pretty cute little shop i must say
DNA Galleries: located right next door is a gallery and handmade shop. Pretty awesome and owned by the coolest people ever.
Bad Grannies Bazaar/House of Craft: Located a little further down the street, it is full of crafts and vintage goodies.
Performance Dancewear: Located across the street from DNA is the place to go for all of your ballroom dancing needs and costumes.
No Regrets Tattoo: A few spaces from Performance Dancewear, you will find the coolest tattoo parlor ever!!!!!
MIDTOWN
Coffeeslinger: Hands down best coffee in OKC. i would go there everyday if i could afford it. It is located in 10th and Broadway.
Bicycle Alley: Cool Bikes. They have public showers for people who bike downtown to work. Located next to Coffeeslingers.
Iguana Lounge: Great mexican food and the building is amazing. Located on 9th off of Broadway.
Praire Thunder Bakery: Artsian Bakery where everything is made from scratch. It is owned by a guy who loves to bake. Located in the Plaza Court next to the YMCA.
Irma’s: Oh my goodness, have you had their chicken fingers!?! so good. so are the burgers.Located in the Plaza Court.
Grateful Bean/Kaisers: The oldest soda fountain in OKC! Coming in is stepping back in time. They have the most amazing peach coffee ice cream that they make there. Plaza Court.
Browns Bakery: I have no idea how long it has been there but i know it is a long time. Their doughnuts are awesome. It is also in the Plaza Court.
(Kristen throws in UrbanArt OKC on 12th & Western. Great place for quality local art and great handblown glass!)

I totally agree. The BEST is always the independent Local Places. I have been to about 75% of these. Will have to try the rest. Great Post. Great Info.
